Internal Conflict Affecting the Soul
by ?

Body stirring
Soul wondering
Flight expected
Conflict avoided

Fear abounds
Quietly and yet noisily inside my self,
As my Soul looks on,
wondering
when will I sing?
When will my songs be heard?

Body stirring.
feet going one way;
while the heart yearns for the other way

Mind rationalizing
Soul wondering
Words utter

The Voice goes unspoken
Conflict avoided
between soul and ego

Yet the Soul lays wondering
when will we bond?

Conflict comes in all shapes. We can experience conflict with another human being. We may be torn over ethics displayed at the workplace that goes against our own sense of ethics. We may have been raised in a household where only conflict existed, and staying safe was the primary rule to go by, no matter the cost.

For some, conflict may be seen as opportunities to be curious as to why a person believes and acts the way s/he does. Conflict may be a place to start examining our own values, safety issues, how we experience grief and changes. Conflict may be used as a tool for intimacy to develop between two hearts. Or for us to understand the pain of our souls by listening and observing the reactions of our bodies and our emotions. Are they being heard and respected?

Internal conflict affects not just the body and emotions, but the souls as well. Who are we? What meaning do we give our Selves? How do we respond to the world? How do we react? What is conflict? And are we connected enough to our bodies to feel what our actions do to our bodily companions? Do we understand joy well enough to miss it and strive for it?

Or have we lived in fear so long that we have disempowered ourselves? Have we forgotten our own abilities to be free? And love? What measure and value do we place on love? How can we love unconditionally another being when we shame ourselves, are embarrassed by parts of our Selves, or demean our very souls for wanting to live? At what price security over freedom and Life? And are we really safe within ourselves to breathe in who we are and express who we are, if we disallow parts of our beingness? Will not fear then always reside and control? Will not parts of us then be in hiding, away from others, and yes, but also from our very selves?

Questions to wonder and ponder... And hopefully, the answers we give ourselves will resonate well with our Souls and bodies. Are we in harmony, or do we live in internal conflict, softly (or maybe not) affecting and eroding our Souls? If we are in conflict, are we ready now to love our Selves and bond?
