God' Grace
by Darling Villena-Mata

Of all of God's graces,
none can be more beautiful and tender
than that of a child's touch,
a child's innocence,
a child's love and laughter.

Through a child,
we learn about love and cherishing the moments of
what Life is really all about.

Through the eyes of a child,
we see beauty in
ordinary things and places.
We delight and are in glee with
the simplest of forms.

Through a child,
we touch ourselves again.
We become young again
and feel what love must be really like,
what God really intended love to be experienced as.

And when the time comes for that child to leave, to depart
she takes with her as memories
a bit of us,
a bit of our own child inside who played with her
and a bit of the parent in us who gave her our love and nurturance
as well as who we were to her
as human beings.

What gifts, what treasures were bestowed on us too
by the Santa in that child who had to depart!!

The child who returns now back
to her place with the Creator
and starts again maybe
with a new family needing
a special girl or maybe now a boy

Or maybe she will decide to stay as a spirit,
as an angel reminding us,
we, who are left here on this earth
to celebrate the gifts she left behind,
not to forget our own gleeful child inside of us
and the loving parents we were in the nurturing,
and of whom we became because of her.
