a woman's journey
by Darling Graciela Elisa Granizo Mata Villena

we call upon our mother, our mother's mother,
our mother's mother's mother,
and all mothers of our lineage of our mother.

we call upon our father's mother, our father's mother's mother,
and all mothers of our lineage of our father.

within each mother lies the vibration of her mother's mother,
and within her mother's mother lies the vibration of her mother and so forth.

each daughter passes on her vibration to her daughter
and her daughter will pass it on to hers.

and each woman who meets another woman
passes aspects of her vibration
and that woman passes on hers to other hers.

an acknowledgement of legacies and signs.

what do we choose to pass on?

to what aspects do we choose to say
'no thank you you serve me not nor those whom i meet.'

a woman's journey starts before she is born
and continues
even after she dies
for she transmits her legacy to others
who can choose to discard what no longer Is
and choose to embrace that which nurtures the living

we also call upon the mothers that we are
that is within us
to nurture ourselves
as we nurture others that come along our paths

we also call upon
ourselves
as we are part of the thread of all women before us and after us...
