As I Look in Your Eyes
by A.F.Firebird
As I look in your eyes I am suddenly transported to all our pasts and all
our futures. In that moment I see all we have been together and all we will
be. Tears well in my eyes as I see in you all the Mothers, the fathers, the
lovers, the teachers, the friends, the brothers, and the sisters we have been
to each other and will be. The laughter and love of all time come back to me
in an instant now, I know you and you know me.
How lonely I have been with you and yet without you and now here you are and
the sight of you reminds me how empty the world has been while you have been
gone. How did I survive the loneliness while you where busy saving souls,
worlds and Galaxies? You arrived so quietly, so small, but as I look into
your eyes I recognize you at last. How could I have not known it was you?
You who I have waited for so long, have longed for and thought of as lost to
me.
Now you are here and I never knew how large my human heart was until the
sight of you made it over flow. Now here you are and there are no words,
there is nothing I can do to express my joy. There is no homage I can pay
that will equal your greatness, your beauty, and the wonder of you. All I
can do is my part, my role in this game, the best that I can. So I pull your
little hat down over your tiny ears, rearrange your blankets so you don't
get cold, move your toys out of your way and say, "Night, night baby girl,
Mummy loves you."
